Royal Court Theatre
The Royal Court is one of the Europe's leading theatres, which since 1956 has presented a programme of new and innovative drama that has become known throughout the world.
The Royal Court Theatre is the writers’ theatre. It is the leading force in world theatre for energetically cultivating writers – undiscovered, emerging and established. Through the writers, the Royal Court is at the forefront of creating restless, alert, provocative theatre about now. We open our doors to the unheard voices and free thinkers that, through their writing, change our way of seeing.
In May 2004 The Anglo Mexican Foundation, in collaboration with the British Council in Mexico and Teatro Helénico, began to support the Royal Court's International Programme for New Writing. Since then, four groups of Mexican playwrights have participated in the programme, meaning that over 30 dramaturgs have benefitted from working closely with writers and directors of the Royal Cout.
