Anglo Arts Centre

The Anglo Arts Centre, situated in the Colonia San Rafael, was built in 1962 by the renowned Mexican architect Felix Candela. Construction was financed by The Anglo Mexican Foundation (at the time, know as the Anglo Mexican Institute of Culture), with additional funding provided by the British Council. It was inaugurated by Doña Eva Sámano de López Mateos, the wife of the then-President of Mexico, along with the British actress Vivian Leigh and Sir Sidney Caine, then Director of the London School of Economics.
Renovation works started in 2015, and in October 2016 the venue was formally re-inaugurated by the British Ambassador in Mexico, HMA Duncan Taylor, C.B.E., and the Vice President of the Board of Directors of The Anglo Mexican Foundation, Mr. John McCarthy.
